If you wanted to describe Theodore Remus Lupin in short, then those five things would, for the most part, cover it. Teddy is an extremely energetic individual – from the time he was born until now he never quite learned the meaning of “sitting still”. If he is forced into sitting still for any length of time you will notice him fidgeting with something in his hands, tapping his feet on the ground or something. That energy transfers over into an extremely over-active mind that never seems to settle, jumping from one place to the next in seconds – sometimes less.

One of the core things to know about Ted is his love for animals – both regular animals and magical creatures he has a passion for all of it. If you want to know something about a creature, Teddy is sure to have encyclopedic knowledge on it – it’s natural habitat, where in the world it originated, what it eats, it’s average life expectancy, what it may be hunted by and anything else you could possibly ask. He has a love for animals like most have for humans – and while there are only a few people that Teddy will ever claim to love, his love for creatures extends to them all.

Confidence is one of Teddy’s most distinguishing personality traits – and it shows most often when he is faced with creatures and situations that no one else would dare go near. It’s as though he has no fear – which oftentimes transfers over into his day to day situations: with people he meets, his family and friends – he hardly ever appears nervous, worried or any emotion of the sort.

Teddy Lupin was born to Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks in a time of chaos and battle. He never got a chance to know his parents as they were killed in The Battle of Hogwarts not too long after his birth. He was raised for the most part by his God-Father Harry Potter and his wife Ginny. Even though he considers them family, he knows it’s not a blood relation, which worked out well seeing as when he went to Hogwarts he developed feelings for one Miss Victorie Weasley. Through school they were an unofficial couple until his sixth year, her fifth. When he graduated he proposed to her and they were engaged to get married when she graduated. Unfortunately, those plans did not fall through because she wanted to finish her training as a healer before getting married and he wanted to travel. They decided to take some time apart while she finished school and he traveled the world and then when that was finished they would see where things stood.

Well, while Teddy was gone he went from writing to Victorie and his family every chance he got, to less and less often. Even with Torie, mostly because her letters were no longer filled with things like she missed him, and loved him and still could not wait for him to get home. She would tell him how fun his adventures sounded, how things were going at school and then one day it was that she had met someone new. She was not really expecting the date to go well, but she really wanted to try as she had never been with anyone but him. Teddy was upset by this but at first and it only caused his letters to be a little less frequent still. Then one day her letter was that things had stayed serious with this guy and she was pregnant. Teddy could not stand the idea of going back home only to have to come back to her in the arms of another man, family and all.

That was when he basically fell off the face of the earth or so it seemed. No one heard from him for a very long time. He continued to travel and eventually met a woman in Brazil that he took a liking to. The thing is, he had taken a liking to many girls along the way, and yeah, he flirted but never more than that. He had still been holding on to things with Victorie. Now that he knew it could never happen again however, he decided to stick around Brazil for a while. He ended up there for two years straight. He worked as a sort of veterinarian for animals and creatures both muggle and magical. After all, that is what he had been doing for years, but only long enough to make some money and move on to the next place.

During this two years he and Maria got very close, so close in fact, that they had a baby boy by the end of that two years. His name is Alexander Remus Lupin, as Teddy wanted to keep his fathers name alive in honor of the way he died for everyone's freedoms. Eventually he got he itch to be on the move once more – he did not leave for long though. He traveled for work and would return to his new home for one week a month still as he had been called to other places he had once been to continue to do the work he promised he would do. A year later, Alexander had a little brother named Andrew Thomas Lupin and once the boys had reached five or six years old, the family started to travel together to all the places that Teddy's work services were needed.

When each of the boys turned eleven they were accepted to Hogwarts and they went away to school, but somehow, Teddy had not received a letter from his family since before he had stopped sending them himself. He had no longer expected them from Victorie but when his family had stopped writing as well, he hadn't bothered to write them. However, when his kids went to school he had really expected someone to notice as they had his last name. Yet still nothing. That did not bother him though, because he had his family now and that was what counted right? Well, not when Maria told him she wanted to finally get married and settle down, like they should have when the kids were young. She was tired of his day to day life style. So Teddy did what Teddy does best and the two of them broke up. He went back to living out of hotels and tents, though he continued to visit his boys during the summer months and holidays as they grew up and had stories from school about kids he once knew the parents of very well.

Then one summer, he received a letter while he was in Australia. It was the first bit of mail from "back home" he had gotten in years and it was his old Care of Magical Creatures professor. Hagrid was going to retire from the position as a professor and go back to only his duties of grounds keeper as he was getting older and he could not think of a better past student than Teddy to take over his spot. Hagrid had known Teddy loved the animals and really had a passion for them – he had even let Ted work as an apprentice of sorts from his second year on when it came to how to care for and handle magical creatures. Ted made arrangements to meet with Hagrid and explain where he had been all these years and that he would gladly take the position as he could not think of a more perfect job, one where he would get to spend more time with his boys. Besides, he could still travel on weekends to bring creatures from all over the world for the students to learn about.

So now at age forty one, with Alexander, age sixteen and Andrew age fifteen, both excited to have their dad around more, Ted is taking the position of care of magical creatures professor at Hogwarts. He has only just come back to town and has not spoken to anyone yet, he set up his office at school and the house he bought with room for the boys should they choose to spend time there instead of at their mothers house. Him and Maria were getting along well on speaking terms, but he knew for a fact they could never be together again. She wanted something he had promised one woman before and that was marriage. And to Teddy, no matter what happened, there would only be one woman he was meant to marry and last he heard, that opportunity was still lost.
