The day had started off normal enough for Blaine’s liking. He had gotten up early, gone for a walk around the grounds and then met up with Juliette in the Great Hall. Even though he was terrified of what could happen, he couldn’t just leave her alone – not now. He needed to be around for her, at least that’s what any normal person would do; but Blaine wasn’t a normal person and he knew that every second he was around her was a second he was potentially putting her in danger.
It was a cool morning, very cloudy and perfect for wandering through Hogsmeade – so that was exactly what they did. They wandered around all morning, talking about nothing and everything – something that most people were used to, yet for Blaine it was entirely new. This was probably the closest he had been with anyone in his entire life and to his surprise, it was sort of comforting in a way.
When they sat down in the coffee shop just before the lunch rush they had only been there for all of five minutes before her father showed up. Blaine recognized him from their one prior encounter – and Blackwell had done a good job of ruining his chances of this guy liking him. As soon as Blaine caught sight he whispered to Juliette, “I’ll be waiting down by the Hogs Head in a couple hours. Sorry…”
Blaine walked out right past Sirius, barley catching eye contact for a split second before redirecting his eyes towards the door. Her dad seemed worried about something, could that be why he was here? The fact that her dad was hunting down the man that Blaine had once called dad made him worry even more for her safety. He knew Blackwell would do anything, no matter how insane it may seem.
While Sirius spoke to Juliette, Blaine stood down the street in a crowd of people, sipping on a coffee he had gotten just before Sirius showed up. He watched the man’s actions and attempted to read his lips. He was definitely worried about something, and he caught his name in there once or twice, but he didn’t seem to be giving anything away that could tell Blaine what was going on.
When Sirius hugged Juliette good-bye Blaine slipped out of the crowd and onto a back alley, walking behind the establishments. Something just didn’t feel right – and he was never wrong about these things. He hadn’t been last time after all. This whole situation was shady and he couldn’t ignore the feeling that something horrible was going to happen.
He went into the Hogs Head pub – but he didn’t order a single drink. He simply sat there contemplating everything that had happened lately, but especially what he had just witnessed. When it had almost been as long as he had told Juliette to wait (in case her dad hung around) he wandered out to the street and started looking around hoping to see her.
Twenty minutes went by like this and Blaine became increasingly nervous and worried. Why isn’t she here? Of course his mind immediately went to the worst case scenario – dear old Dad took her, either to get to him or to get to her father. Before jumping to conclusions however he decided to wait just a few minutes longer, then do a quick walk through town and see if maybe her dad had come back to keep her away from him.
Once he was halfway back to the castle without any sight of her his heart started racing. No, no, no… he kept repeating in his head. Why didn’t I just stick closer to her? Why did I walk away? Why did her dad have to show up today of all days? It was surreal – the first time this was attempted they had been saved by a woman who was headed up to the school; but it seemed there were no witnesses anywhere to be found.
The coffee shop lady said she left a few minutes after Sirius – and no one had seen her since? This wasn’t a coincidence and he knew nothing her dad could have told her would have kept her away from him. They had already talked about it – she understood why he couldn’t talk to anyone about it – all he knew was survival; everything else, love, happiness, trust… All of that was entirely new to him. On top of that, if he ever turned on Blackwell his life was at stake – and hers possibly was too, though he would never scare her with that detail.
She might already be… his heart sank. Blackwell wouldn’t do that – not without using her as bait for someone first. There was definitely still time – but he wasn’t going to sit around and wait to find out who his so-called father was after. He needed to do something about this now, before it was too late.
Blaine headed to the outskirts of Hogsmeade and slipped right past the aurors without ever being seen thanks to a disillusionment charm – a skill he had unfortunately learned thanks to Blackwell. Once he was far enough away he apparated to one of Blackwell’s hide-outs. The one he called their “summer-home” because it was out in the countryside – an old plantation mansion: complete with a dungeon – the same one he had been locked in the night Blackwell left him alone with a werewolf to be bitten.
This was the first place Blaine thought to check and he wasn’t disappointed. Apparently it does pay to pay attention, he thought. Still using the disillusionment charm he snuck his way quietly and quickly down to the dungeon style basement. Once he was inside and sure that no one else was around, he stopped the disillusionment charm and ran directly to Juliette…

When Juliette woke up she felt like she normal did now, a cow. She was huge and well she kind of was carrying two babies around in her stomach. She was seven months along with twins. How could she not be huge or look like a cow. This no more quidditch or running was driving her insane. She could go for little walks but she would rather run. She would rather do a lot of things that she couldn’t do, especially since she had aurors watching her every more. Oh to have a father who was Head Auror and so very paranoid. It also didn’t help that Sirius didn’t like Blaine very much and wouldn’t trust him, not even for her. Not trusting him was like not trusting her so she stopped going around the house and stayed around the castle more just to bug him. She knew it was mean and she was doing it to be spiteful but she was hurt that he wasn’t trusting her choices and that was how she saw it. Juliette did her now routine walk with a few of the Gryffindor quidditch team. She used to go running with them but ever since she got pregnant and had to start walking instead of running, they would go walking with her and then do their daily running. It was great to still feel like part of the team even though she wasn’t able to play. Hopefully next year she would be back on the team. After her walk she went and bathed and then dressed for the day. Once she was satisfied with her appearance she met Blaine in the Great Hall. She was happy that she could finally be with him and know everything though she hated keeping things from her dad, like things about Blaine but she didn’t want Blaine getting hurt. She wouldn’t force Blaine into anything until he was ready to talk to her dad and get under his protection. She had offered him a place under their roof when that happened. The two went to Hogsmead and wondered around. Juliette dragged the boy to every shop she could including Honeydukes. She bought some chocolates, her favorites, and a good size of it to. She may have been thinking of going to see her dad and sharing it with him later. She did miss him. They of course had to look around the broom shop, even if she couldn’t get a new broom yet to ride she always liked looking at them. Finally after all their wondering they finally made it to the coffee shop. Since she was pregnant Juliette ordered herbal tea. She couldn’t wait to have coffee again after this pregnancy that was another thing she missed. They hadn’t been there long though when her father showed up. She glared at him wondering if he had told the aurors watching her to tell him if she was hanging out with Blaine. Well she could hang out with whomever she wanted. They had a quick discussion and he looked worried but she paid him no attention. He didn’t need to be worried about Blaine. She told him she would be careful just so he would leave her alone at the moment. She was having a nice time with Blaine. Why did he have to come and ruin it? Why? It wasn’t right. It wasn’t fair. When he was finally leaving they hugged a brief moment but it wasn’t the hugs she usually had been giving him. She was mad at him now, well worse than she had already been. How dare he come here while she was with Blaine? Once he was gone she gathered her stuff and walked out of the back door slipping away out of the aurors sight who was constantly watching over her. She walked down an alley way towards where she was going to meet up with Blaine and that’s when she saw him again, her father. She sighed and was going to get ready to scold him again. Why the hell couldn’t he just leave her alone? She walked up to him and let him have it. Let out all of her feelings and he just laughed. Why was he laughing? This wasn’t like him. She was so confused. Finally he waved his wand and the charm was taken away and there in front of her stood Cato Blackwell. She had encountered him once before when she had told Blaine that she was pregnant and he had interrupted their little chat. She took a step back. There was no way she was going to be able to run from him because of her pregnancy weight. Her hand slid to her wand and she got off a good few shots before he finally disarmed her and wrapped her up a rope. Her wand, the bag of candy from Honeydukes, and her herbal tea was all over the back alley way. Cato took her and apperated her somewhere. Once they got there he knocked her out. The man tortured her off and on. She wondered what this was going to do to her and her babies. She wanted nothing more than her father to come through that door with all of his paronidness. Why did she have to try to escape the aurors watch? Why? This went on for hours but it seemed like days. Finally he stopped and she was back in a small dungeon half passed out. She heard something outside but she was half out of it from the blood loss so she could be wrong. She saw Blaine run up to her though and started shaking her head tears in her eyes at seeing him there. Blaine you can’t be here. He will kill you if he sees you she said softly. The familiar halls seemed darker now that he knew the truth about this old house – it wasn’t a summer home at all, as he had been brought up to believe. Rather it was one of many secret headquarters set up by Cato Blackwell and his minions, who call themselves members of the Nex. There were men that lined the halls – but luckily Blaine had been trained from a very young age how to avoid being detected by people, even those trained as well as the Nex.
As soon as he was in the dungeons he had run to Juliette, she was bloody and beaten – there was no telling what sort of damage all of this would have on their unborn twins as well, but even that was relatively far from his mind at the moment. Her wrists and ankles were tied and he immediately went to trying to untie them – with no luck, they were hexed. He pulled a knife out of his pocket and tried to cut them away, but still no luck. She was speaking to him, but he wasn’t letting her worried words sink in – he knew there wouldn’t be much time before Blackwell was back.
”Juliette, please, please, just trust me. Can you walk?” he asked her as he pulled out his wand and attempted multiple counter spells to try and undo the hex causing the ropes to be unbreakable. Finally, after multiple attempts, he finally got it right and the ropes released their grip on Juliette. Without waiting on an answer from her, he picks her up and carries her off to the other end of the room and waves his wand at the floor where a small trap door suddenly appeared on the floor.
”I need you to stay down here. Blackwell will be back any minute and I need to clear a path out. When he sees you gone, he will be pissed – but he doesn’t know about this place. I put it here a few years ago, long story. Anyway, he won’t look here – which will buy us just a little bit of time. I promise, I’m coming back. Maybe half an hour, tops. If Blackwell is already here, well then I’ll wing it.”
Carefully, Blaine picked up Juliette once again, and carried her down the short staircase to an empty, concrete room in the floor that was no more than the size of a small walk-in closet. He set her on the ground carefully, using magic he closed the trap door behind them and then lit a torch on the wall so he could see her wounds. Quickly and as though he had done it many times before he looked for the worst of the wounds and wrapped ripped strips of his t-shirt around her to soak up some of the blood and with any luck, keep her from bleeding to death while he tried to find them a way out.
Once he was certain she would be okay, at least for a few minutes, he knelt down next to her, took her hands and held them tightly. ”I’m sending word to your dad as well. If I don’t make it back here, he will. I don’t want to scare you, but it’s the truth. I’m going to do everything I can to get you out of here myself, but if I can’t, then at least I’ll know you will be safe.” Blaine leaned in close to her, now puts his hands on her stomach, and kisses her stomach, then kisses her lips. ”You’ll be safe and so will they. I’ll make sure of it.”
With that, he got up and grabbed his wand, and exited the trap door, concealing it once more with magic, and then conjured up his patronus to send off to Juliette’s dad, Sirius. If anything happened to himself, he could live with that, but if something happened to Juliette or their unborn children, he would never forgive himself – so one way or another, whether it was him or her dad who got her there, she was getting out of here alive and well.

She had no idea how long she had been there before Blaine had showed up. All she knew was that Cato had left her alone for quite some time. She tried to get him to run away, to save himself but he wouldn’t. Her vision was a little blurry from the blood loss but she could tell that it was him before he spoke to her. ”Juliette, please, please, just trust me. Can you walk?” was all she heard next after his dismissal of her telling him to leave. She shook her head no which made her very light headed. No…no I can’t her voice was but a rasp. She was weak and she didn’t know if her children were alright. She could lose them because of what was happening and it would be her fault because she didn’t listen to her father. Did this mean she was going to be a terrible mother? ”I need you to stay down here. Blackwell will be back any minute and I need to clear a path out. When he sees you gone, he will be pissed – but he doesn’t know about this place. I put it here a few years ago, long story. Anyway, he won’t look here – which will buy us just a little bit of time. I promise, I’m coming back. Maybe half an hour, tops. If Blackwell is already here, well then I’ll wing it.” She shook her head tears streaming down her face. Blaine please no…don’t leave me. If he comes back. I can’t…I can’t take it anymore and I can’t lose you…please she said but he was already picking her up and taking her down there. Maybe she could convince him to stay, convince him that he could protect her by staying near her. She watched him look her over her head leaning against a wall. She could fall asleep right here, it wasn’t that uncomfortable. Her eyes closed for a moment then she snapped them back open. She looked down at her hands when he took them. ”I’m sending word to your dad as well. If I don’t make it back here, he will. I don’t want to scare you, but it’s the truth. I’m going to do everything I can to get you out of here myself, but if I can’t, then at least I’ll know you will be safe.” She shook her head again. No just stay here. You can send word to my dad but just stay here Blaine. Please for me. Please she said before he kissed her stomach and then her lips. She kissed him back hoping this meant that he was going to stay with her. She wanted no part of him going back out there alone. ”You’ll be safe and so will they. I’ll make sure of it.” She looked up at him thinking he was going to stay. He was she knew it but then he grabbed his wand and left. He went out there to make a way for them to get out, into where the danger was at. Juliette listened hard as she leaned against the cold wall. Cato was so close to victory. He would bring Sirius Potter here and make his son do what he wanted. He just didn’t know if he wanted to kill Sirius now or wait till later, let him be tortured for a bit longer. There was just so many choices to do. After he got Sirius daughter here far too easily by the way he had a bit of fun with the girl. He had no idea what his son Blaine saw in this girl. She was weak and not worth his son’s time. He would make sure Blaine realized that. After he had his fun with the girl he left her alone. He would be back after a while anyway. Besides he needed to have some fun with her dad soon. He barked orders and watched his men scatter. He was bored of course and needed to do something as he waited though before he could start something new he heard a noise. He dismissed it though not giving it a second thought. After a while he decided to go back to Juliette and have some more fun with her. When he got to the cell though she was gone. Fury came over him and he let out a piercing, enraged yell. What the bloody hell he screamed making sure everyone could hear him. He headed out of the cell walking around to find the girl. She couldn’t have gotten far because of the amount of blood she should have lost by now. He wanted to make sure that she and her whole family suffered by his hands as he had suffered by Sirius and Albus father Harry and his precious sons. How did she escape though? That was when he saw him. Blaine and he was taking out his guards. Blood hell he said beyond pissed off. He took out his wand and shot a warning spell at Blaine. Stop now he said to his son heading towards him firing some more shots at him to make his point very clear. He made sure one hit Blaine so he would get the point. Blaine was not saving his precious princess today. Cato needed his plan to work for Nex’s plans to move forward. If not he would have to do something else to move them forward and he didn’t like waiting, at all. If he had to wait he would make sure to make Blaine’s life hell. Just tell me where she is son and all is forgiven he said moving closer to him. Words: 425 Tagged: Blaine Landon Koon & Juliette Michelle Potter

Adrenaline pumped through him and his heart pounding so hard he could hear it the entire time they were out in the open, as he tried desperately to get Juliette untied. While he was confident that they had enough time, the fear that Blackwell would show up right then and there would not let up. As he freed her, she finally responded and said she could not walk – by that point he had already picked her up and headed off to his secret room – if you could really call it a room.
It was eerily dark and cold under the ground, just as he remembered. Immediately he set her down, got some light going and tended to her wounds the best he could – unfortunately medical magic was the only thing Blackwell never found it necessary for him to learn. The entire time, she begged him not to leave her there alone.
Blaine please no…don’t leave me. If he comes back. I can’t…I can’t take it anymore and I can’t lose you…please
He wished so badly he could stay here with her – but knowing how many men were roaming and guarding those halls, he knew even the best of aurors would have trouble with that. If he was able to at least take out half of them – or better yet, keep Cato Blackwell away from this room until he knew the aurors had come and gotten Juliette – then he would be satisfied. Though Blaine had told her he would be coming back, he wouldn’t admit (at least not to her) he wasn’t entirely sure he would be.
If he were able to incapacitate Blackwell and get away, and get them out, then he would truly be amazed – from the moment he had left to find her Blaine had known that this was practically a suicide mission for him. He ignored her pleading, as hard as it was – he couldn’t stay, they would be trapped like rats and for who knows how long – probably longer than she had right now and he was not willing to risk that.
No just stay here. You can send word to my dad but just stay here Blaine. Please for me. Please For a moment, he almost gave in, he almost froze – but he knew that staying here wouldn’t do them any good – in the off chance that the aurors didn’t make it here in time, he needed to be at least trying to get them out of here. So after a passionate kiss, and a promise he hoped he could keep, he left the trap door and concealed it once more, wand at the ready as he used a disillusionment charm again, after sending his patronus to Sirius, and headed back down the halls.
Things went smoothly at first, taking out two sets of guards without an issue – or so he thought. A third man had seen the one of the last men fall to the ground from a stunning spell and immediately used a spell that revealed Blaine - who upon realizing his cover was blown immediately shot out another stunning spell – but this one missed. The guard shot a spell off back at him – Blaine swiftly moved to the side for a very narrow miss, all the while taking aim for another stunning spell, this one hitting the guard.
Unfortunately, there had been enough noise now that it had raised the attention of others – and soon he was surrounded by five more guards, all of whom know exactly who he is, but none of them hesitate seeing the already stunned men on the ground. Spells were flying from all directions, and Blaine shot off as many stunning spells as he could at first – but when the first spell that did more than knock him into a wall hit him, creating a large gash across his back, he felt enraged and without thinking sent the same curse right back – hitting the guard who had hit him and leaving him bloody on the floor.
With no idea how much time had already passed, Blaine was getting worried – it took a while but all five guards were down. And that was when he heard the first of what he was sure would be many angry screams coming from the man who called himself his father – that voice echoing off the walls almost froze him in place, but only for a moment as he forced himself to focus and keep moving. He came up to the next set of guards, at this point no longer bothering with trying to be stealthy, and shot spells off – and after a few exchanges between him and the guards, they were down as well – but he could feel the soreness in his chest, his ribs were definitely broken from one – or more – of those last few hits.
Then he heard that cold, familiar voice again – only this time he was much closer. He yelled for Blaine to stop – and then shot off spells in his direction, ensuring that one hit Blaine, sending him back a few feet and to the ground. Scrambling for his wand again, Blaine glared at his so-called father as he walked closer. Just tell me where she is son and all is forgiven.
Blaine raised his wand, probably the first time he had ever done so to Blackwell – whom he had once trusted more than anyone else. ”You’re not my father. And I won’t fight for you or with you, not anymore.”

Juliette was barely able to stay awake down there. Just so much blood was being lost. She looked where Blaine had gone. She was wishing for him to come back. She tried to get up to go outside but she couldn’t. She stayed in the floor looking around where she was at. Thoughts came flooding through her mind as she tried to calm herself but it wasn’t happening. She had no idea what was going on and all she knew was that Blaine was in trouble and she had to help him. She tried to get up again and finally managed to get up. Slowly she made her way out and headed towards the path of destruction she saw. She knew Blaine would be that way because he was trying to make a way out for them. She hugged close to the wall using it to keep herself up, without it she would crumble to the ground. Cato frowned at his so called son. What in hell was the boy thinking. All this, giving up his life for a girl. This girl was not worth his son’s time and he would make sure of it. How did Blaine even know that those children inside of her were even his? That so called princess of his could be lying to him and he would believe her. The boy believed anything he heard. He would fix this for Blaine. He would make sure the boy knew the truth. ”You’re not my father. And I won’t fight for you or with you, not anymore.” Blaine said to him. Cato just laughed at the boy. You bloody think so. Who has taken care of you when no one wanted you he said. He clapped his hands as Blaine raised his wand at him. Good for you know what are you going to do he said. Juliette felt like she had been walking for hours. She heard voices as she turned a corner. She headed towards them and as she got closer she saw Blaine and then Cato. She was closer to Cato than Blaine. She noticed Blaine was hurt and she felt that it was her fault. He wouldn’t be if it hadn’t been for her. She had no idea where her father was or Claire but she had to do something to help Blaine. But how? She found something that was heavy to her and picked it up. The act made her dizzy but she ignored it. She swung at Cato with it who just caught it and she froze. She managed to finally look at Blaine and say run to him. Whatever was swung at his head was now in his hands. He could see anywhere really. Silly girl. He turned and smiled at the young brunette. Naughty girl. Where were you hiding he asked her. Looks at Blaine with a smile on his lips. Ready to have some fun son he asked him. He was bored and tired of the games his son wanted to play. It was time to show him who was in charge. As Blaine felt the force of Cato Blackwell’s curse hitting him, forcing him back and knocking him right of his feet, he felt a mixture of rage and fear pulsing through him. This man had been the only family he knew, as a young child he had been, almost caring – in a way; but now Blaine knew the truth – it was all just conditioning, to make him trust him and no one else, to keep him under control after turning him into a killer.
In only a second or two, memories of spending days on end in that dungeon, training, being cursed, hexed and beaten, , the night he was bitten by the werewolf, it all flashed through his mind so quickly, yet so vividly – the fear he had been conditioned to have started to fade as a pure rage came over him by the time he had his wand in hand.
Pointing his wand at Blackwell, he made it clear that he was no longer on his side – he wanted nothing more to do with all of this. Really, if he could get Juliette out of here, he wanted nothing more than to get away for good and be able to go about things normally, like everyone else did, for the first time in his life. Unfortunately, he knew that was never going to happen.
You bloody think so. Who has taken care of you when no one wanted you
Blaine’s gaze, locked on Blackwell’s, became much colder – he wanted to lose control, to scream at him or something childish. He settled for calm, cold words, ”You know that’s a lie. Everything you’ve told me is a lie. With a little effort, ignoring the throbbing pain from his broken ribs, he forced himself to stand up, his wand still pointed at Blackwell, never taking his eyes off of him.
Good for you know what are you going to do
Blackwell’s words almost forced him to think – did he actually have a plan? What exactly was his plan? He shook those thoughts, everything he had been taught by this man was to how to kill – and for the first time, he really let that sink in – and then he gave his father a cold and dark smile – he knew exactly what he was going to do. But just then a noise hit his ears, the shuffling of feet, soft and faint in the distance, he felt a knot in his stomach that was not related to pain.
Juliette, why wouldn’t you just listen to me and stay where you are safe… he thought to himself, luckily trained well enough to never lose composure – not letting on that he knew she was coming down the hall behind Blackwell. Before he even knew what was happening however, Juliette came at Cato with a big brick or something and Cato caught it and her arm – and she only managed one word – she told Blaine to run.
Naughty girl. Where were you hiding he asked her. Looks at Blaine with a smile on his lips. Ready to have some fun son he asked him.
In the same amount of time that Blackwell had taken to ask the question, Blaine felt a rage come over him stronger than anything before. ”Oh yeah, I am,” he growled at his father as he rushed him, and in two quick moves managed to grab Blackwell’s arm, twisting it around until he heard the crack of bones breaking as he put himself between his father and Juliette. Blaine looked at Juliette. ”Go, now. I’ll hold him off and catch up.”

Juliette was like her father in so many ways, and some of them weren’t good. She never listened to no one. Which is why when Blaine told her to stay put and it felt like an eternity had passed since he had gone she went to find him. She didn’t want to find him with Cato though, but that was where he was. She knew it was a mistake her still losing blood and being pregnant. It was getting hard for her to stay awake. When she came at Cato and he caught the brick a frown was on her face. She had told Blaine to run but of course he didn’t either. She would admit that she was scared and she didn’t know how much longer she was going to be standing. Her body was trembling trying to keep herself standing as more blood fell down her body. She saw Blaine running towards them after Cato taunted them and he broke his hand. Blaine then told her to run, but she just couldn’t leave Blaine…. ------------ Cato had a feeling he was about to have some fun with the two of him. If his son didn’t want to stay with him then he would surely join the wretched Potter girl. He had no idea though that Blaine would break his bloody hand. Fuck he said with a groan. The boy wanted to play it this way. He had put himself between Cato and Juliette but he still had his wand hand. Aiming the wand at Juliette he hit her just as Blaine told her to run, before she could even leave. Go….go where Blaine he said laughing as Juliette hit the ground her head hitting the wall again. ------------ When the spell hit, her she fell to the ground. She was just about to take Blaine’s advice and go knowing he would catch up with her. She had to believe in that. If not she could always go back for him. As soon as she turned around a spell hit her in the back and she fell hitting her head on the stone wall. She was still awake and thankfully there wasn’t any new spots bleeding. Just a bruise. She was in no position to run anywhere now. Because of the fall she had fallen on her leg as well hearing a snap. There was no way they were going to get out now. Blaine should just get out of there while he could. Just go Blaine she begged him wanting him safe and sound at least. She hoped her father wouldn’t blame Blaine though for anything that had happened. --------- Cato smiled when the brunette girl fell. He heard the snap of the leg and laughed some more. Oh yes I was right. She is not going anywhere son. Now where were we. Oh, yes you broke my hand now I will break something of yours he said kicking at Blaine’s leg. He listened to see if he had made contact at all with his son’s leg and broken any bones. Blaine sure had broken his hand but he was pushing through it. He was not planning on losing today. There was a momentary rush of fear as he had grabbed his fathers arm and twisted as he ran past – but there was also a moment of satisfaction in feeling and hearing the cracking of bones in his hand. He let his grip on his fathers arm go as he put himself between Juliette and Blackwell – but just as he told her to run, not to think about him and just run, it was too late. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a light come from his fathers wand and before he had a chance to step in the way it had already hit Juliette and knocked her to the floor.
Go….go where Blaine he said laughing… and Blaine turned his wand toward Juliette and waved it a few times, quick back and forth movements and a barrier formed around her. ”Don’t fucking leave that spot –“ he told Juliette fiercely, desperately hoping she would listen to him this time and stay behind the magical barrier – it was his own spell, which had taken ages to perfect but he knew one day he would need – it combined a shield charm and a patronus, creating an almost unbreakable bubble shield around yourself – or anyone you may be trying to protect.
Juliette was begging him to leave – but that just wasn’t about to happen. There was no way he would leave her here, in the hands of his insane father – kidnapper? Blaine didn’t even know what to call this man now – what do you call a man who raised you, but who also killed your true parents, then keeping you only to teach you how to be a weapon of mass destruction?
Now was not the time for those thoughts, the longer he let his mind wander the worse off things would get in a matter of seconds. As he went to turn back towards Blackwell he felt a powerful blow to his right leg, a slight crack heard as he nearly fell to the ground, only catching himself on a wall, but not a sound escaped him regardless of the pain radiating from now his definitely fractured leg and his already broken ribs – he knew better than to give Blackwell the satisfaction of a single thing indicating he was in pain.
Oh yes I was right. She is not going anywhere son. Now where were we. Oh, yes you broke my hand now I will break something of yours, Blackwell had said only a split-second before he was knocked off balance. It only took a second for Blaine to regain his center, leaning more on his left leg now, wand still clutched tightly – but even though he had a knowledge of so, so many spells he could have been using to fight Blackwell the rage in him only wanted to see him torn apart at his hand. A quick flick of his wand – barely a movement that could be seen – he attempted to disarm his father before rushing at him again, this time putting all his weight into punching Blackwell square in the chest at almost deadly speeds and strength.
In less than a second he skidded to a stop just past Blackwell after making contact with him, did a quick turn about and sprinted back between Blackwell and Juliette. While he knew she would be safe behind that barrier, he didn’t want his father any closer to her than he was now. He stopped between them and took a quick glance back at Juliette – she was still conscious, for now – then muttered under his breath, ”This would be a great time for an interruption…”.
Blaine could only hope his patronus had made it to Juliette’s father and that he would have help soon – he could only hold off Blackwell for so long – and if he was going to kill him, it was going to be slow, the same way he had watched his father kill so many people before. Otherwise, if he wanted to do something he would regret – the deadly, unforgivable curse – he could end it all now – but he just couldn’t bring himself to do it, even if he was thinking it, as he stood there, heart racing, wand still pointed at Cato and wondering what the next move will have to be.

Juliette stayed where she was unable to move. Her head was laying down and she was almost out. Blaine….Dad she said. She knew her father wasn’t there but she wished he was. No matter how annoying he could be she didn’t want to die without seeing him again and she had a feeling that she might die. She was still losing blood and slipping fast. Blaine was looking like he might be in trouble as well and he put a protection spell around her so she couldn’t get to him. She couldn’t help him at all. She couldn’t only watch helpless again as someone she loved was killed because that was what Cato planned to do with Blaine now. She screamed in pain and grabbed her stomach as a huge wave of pain hit her there. The babies couldn’t be coming now it was too early for that. She couldn’t be having them. Fear hit her more than it had since Cato took her. She coughed up some blood and leaned her head back. Blaine…. she said again. She had no idea what to do and she was scared. ----- Cato smiled as he fought with his only son. The boy grew up some and he was enjoying this. He would turn this boy back to him no matter what and he would be the best killing machine this world had ever seen. Cato kept shooting spells at Blaine until finally the shield around Juliette was gone. Maybe it was because Blaine was tired or because he wasn’t as strong as he thought he was. Whatever the reason Cato didn’t care. He had a way to make his son do whatever he wanted. He shoot another spell at Blaine then walked over to Juliette grabbing her by her hair. He pulled her closer to him after hearing her scream in pain and grab her belly. Oh no…that can’t be good he said smiling. He leaned down and pointed his wand at Juliette’s neck poking it into her neck. Now son let’s have a chat he said. His face had a couple of bruises and he had a bloody lip but Cato was smiling in the end. After punching Blackwell square in the chest – knocking him back a foot or two and possibly costing his balance and focus for a second – Blaine had turned quickly and put himself back between his father and Juliette. This was never a situation he could have imagined being in – why had he been so stupid as to get close to Juliette at all? He had known his father could use this against him and that he very well would. After running away over the summer he should have just continued to keep to himself – then this wouldn’t have ever had to happen.
Unfortunately, it was far too late for that and there was nothing he could do but try and put this to an end. His eyes were locked on to his fathers, his wand raised and ready for whatever was going to come next – or at least he hoped. It was only a second before spells were flying again – and he didn’t hesitate, shooting hexes back at his father – hoping at least one of them would make contact as the man came closer to him.
The thing that worried Blaine the most was the fact that the barrier protecting Juliette relied on his patronus as well as a shielding charm – and it required him to keep the thought creating that patronus focused in the back of his mind for it to stay strong – but focusing on that, while trying to protect himself, was becoming increasingly difficult as he tried to dodge the spells coming at him while attempting to hit his father with one of his own all at once.
He had moved to his right to avoid a spell and intense pain radiated up his leg from the spot where Blackwell had kicked his leg earlier and it caused him to lose balance for a second – and he knew then he and Juliette were in trouble. As long as Blaine had been trained by his father one thing was constant, when Blaine showed weakness, pain or fear, it was immediately punished. Whether it was so he would learn not to give those feelings away, or to learn how not to have them at all, he didn’t ever say.
But in that brief second when the pain became too intense he had physically reacted – his eyes had shut tight for a brief second as the pain first hit him and even though it was less than a second his face clearly read that he was hurt – a sign of weakness. Before he was able to regain his balance a spell hit him square in the chest and he tried to brace himself for the impact as he felt the force of the spell push him across the long hallway and nowhere near his father and Juliette.
There was a loud thud as he hit the cement wall and slid to the floor in a heap. His leg was almost definitely broken now, the intense pain hadn’t gone away from the second he moved to quickly, putting pressure on it when he dodged that spell only seconds earlier. Blaine could hear Juliette through all of this – calling for him, calling for her father, who he desperately hoped was on his way. Now he couldn’t hear anything at the moment, the world around him was fuzzy – but he still gripped his wand tightly, until Blackwell disarmed him and he felt his wand ripped from his grip.
That was it – he knew the barrier protecting Juliette went down the second his wand left his hand – then he heard her scream and the sound both terrified and infuriated him – and seconds later his vision was finally clearing and he could see his father holding her up by the hair, his wand pointed at her. Blaine looked around desperately for his wand as he heard his father speak. Oh no…that can’t be good he said smiling. He leaned down and pointed his wand at Juliette’s neck poking it into her neck. Now son let’s have a chat he said.
Juliette held her stomach as she screamed in pain and he couldn’t help but worry for both her and the twins she is carrying – his twins. It was then that Blaine heard light footsteps, virtually silent unless you were trained to pick up on details the way he had been – hope could only hope that between his father’s own words and Juliette’s screams that Blackwell hadn’t heard it as well. It was one of two things – more guards or Juliette’s father and the other aurors – he hoped that the stealth of their entrance meant it was the second of the two.
”Don’t touch her,” Blaine growled at his father, trying with everything he had to pull himself back together. If he could just get to his wand he could attempt to heal his leg – at least enough to get out of here on foot – and he could kill Blackwell. No more hesitation, no more fear of regret over using a spell he swore he would never use – this man was threatening not only one of the few people to ever show him true kindness, but his unborn children as well and he wasn’t going to let him get away with that.
The only problem would be getting to his wand – which was now nearly ten feet away from him and between his now broken leg, a pounding in his head that he hadn’t realized was coming from a gash on the side of his head and a wound in his side from one of the spells he hadn’t managed to dodge he wasn’t sure how he was going to get to it. Luckily, it sounded like he wouldn’t have to worry for long – ”I’ll fucking kill you!” – the words echoed off the walls as he looked around behind him for a second, seeing Sirius Potter, that woman he was always with… Claire Pierce? – With a team of aurors behind them come up behind Blackwell and Juliette just in time.

From the first second that Sirius had heard the auror shout the location where Juliette was being held by Blackwell he had wanted to leave the office – to rush in, to murder Blackwell, to save his daughter. He hadn’t been able to save his first two daughters, but he sure as hell wasn’t going to lose his youngest daughter to this evil man as well. All Blackwell got out of this was tormenting him – and self-satisfaction at causing pain to another human being – and that was coming to an end.
It had felt like ages coming up with the plan to get in and get Juliette out – going off of what Blaine had told them in his brief message about Juliette being in a concealed room in the cellar – when in reality it took less than fifteen minutes before Claire’s brilliant problem solving skills had their route mapped out both on the board for the room to see and in her head – and then he gave the word, and they were out of there and finally he could stop pacing around, bouncing from one foot to the other unable to hold still.
They apparated outside of the ranch home – near the entrance to the cellar on the side of the house. Upon entering, it was him and Claire side by side in the front, rushing through and surprisingly easily past several guards who had already been stunned or injured – one may have been dead – it made him wonder what exactly this Blaine kid was capable of, after all he had said he was going to try and take out as many people as possible.
This cellar was more of a maze underneath the house with a large room on either end – the first room they checked was clearly the one where she had been held; the ropes she had been bound with here laying there in a puddle of blood. Both Sirius and Claire tried a number of charms before finding the one that revealed the concealed room Blaine had told them of – but Juliette wasn’t in there. Enraged, Sirius balled his fist and punched the cement wall, not considering that action until he felt pain radiate through his knuckles – but he ignored it and looked to Claire, ”We keep moving, she’s here somewhere.”
There just wasn’t time for them to try and make another course of action, to search the house, the grounds or anything else. Juliette was somewhere, most likely still down in this twisted underground hell hole and he wasn’t leaving until he found her. Without another word he walked back up the steps out of the small room concealed in the floor and moving quickly for the halls once again – but not running ahead as he wanted, which should be as much control as Claire could expect.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw that Claire had quickly caught up with him, the other aurors behind them, waiting on her signal or to be attacked – whichever happened first. As they rushed through the halls, passing only one set of guards that Blaine hadn’t take out (which Claire had taken care of before Sirius had finished his thought to lash out) they all moved quickly, but nearly silently. Even a big guy like Sirius had learned over the years how to get in and out of places undetected – it was more difficult with his knee acting up, but neither the pain or an actual thought about it registered with him – all he was focused on was finding Juliette.
Then he heard a deafening scream, unmistakably his daughter, and it was coming from up ahead. Sirius gave one sideways glance to Claire, a sort of you know I’m about to lose it, right? look. His fists clenched, one hand tightly around his wand, and he took off running down the halls, though still rather quietly – and in seconds he heard Claire and the others after him. They were about to find Juliette – but who else would they come face to face with now? Was Cato Blackwell the reason for his daughters screams right now or was it another guard trying to keep her there?
Finally, he saw them in the distance – Blaine in a bloody pile on the ground farthest away, his daughter looking terrified, holding her stomach and clearly in pain, and Cato Blackwell, holding Juliette by the hair and holding his wand to her throat. They were still a ways away, but the second he saw them he lost it – he wasn’t focused, he wasn’t paying attention to the group, his calm composure gone as he brought attention to them when he screamed, ”I’ll fucking kill you!” and pushed himself harder, running faster and putting less and less distance between him and Blackwell and his daughter.
It was a blur, from the time he had first heard Juliette scream he felt the anger starting to take over again, he had been holding it back for so long – the dangerous calm had kept him in enough of a focused work mode to get them this far – but that was gone in a split second. He knew he couldn’t risk shooting a spell at a distance, it could hit Juliette – so instead he used the disarming spell, but pointed not at Cato’s wand, but at the hand holding Juliette – hoping it would force him to drop her.
Then when the space between them had almost closed, he used a spell to force Blackwell into the wall behind him, and a whole slew of curses followed – a rage of attacks, one after, the other, all aimed just far enough away that if they didn’t hit Blackwell they would only damage the walls and not hit Juliette – there wasn’t a clear thought in his mind, the only thing he wanted to see was Blackwell in pieces across the ground.
The world around him was gone from his mind, the only thing he saw was Blackwell and the lights from the curses flying – some that may have been coming from Blackwell and back at him, but he couldn’t care and he didn’t move away – he needed to see what damage had been done once the smoke cleared – but it didn’t look like that was happening just yet.

Sirius was on the edge of losing control. Her aurors were focused and ready. And Claire? Claire was alert and prepared and powered by cold determination that kept her in perfect control, helping her ensure Sirius was in control too as she moved inside next to him. Part of her noted how much had been done before they arrived, more than she had expected out of Blaine; for a second, she was impressed, until she had moved past and had other things to think about. It was dark down here, and Claire and her team moved without sound or additional light, until they found the first room, blood on the ground. Frustration or anger not even creeping into her utterly calm, rational mind, she went through a few revealing charms until she found the concealed room, but when Sirius charged in behind her they found it empty.
The crack of his fist against the wall was loud, louder than the noise they could afford to make. "Sirius!" Claire hissed, both a caution about the noise and a warning about stupidly punching a cement wall. She could see the pain on his face, while he tried to cover it up as say to her, "We keep moving, she's here somewhere." In another situation, she would have a biting comment, but she only curtly nodded and took a final sweeping look around the room before she slipped back out through the doorway behind him. Catching up with him quickly, she soon surpassed him by a stride or two despite her smaller stride. Picking her way down the hall with silent footsteps and hugging the wall, she let her mind travel around the house as best as she could estimate the floor plan.
She stopped momentarily in a hallway as they circled back to a staircase. Appraising Sirius and her small team, she made a few small reminders, unnecessary but still important. Looking back at Sirius, she was keenly aware that they were getting closer and closer to the moment when they would find Juliette - and find Blackwell. Sirius's impulse control would soon be tested much more. But she made no comment on it, for now, only straightening her spine and heading up the stairs. "Upstairs," she said then, brisk, her voice low, without looking over her shoulder. She knew he was following her lead, for now at least, and sure enough, his footsteps followed hers as the others fell into step behind him.
Claire was a few paces down the hallway from the staircase landing when there was a terrible scream. Sirius was past her in an instant, tearing down the hallway. She was after him a split second later, running on light feet right on his heels. Sirius was about to burst into the room before she did, allowing herself just enough distance between them that she could gesture to her team of aurors before they were in the room behind him. She sharply registered Juliette, held by her hair with a wand at her throat, Blaine collapsed on the side, and Blackwell himself, before she was even in the room. Sirius was there, yelling, "I'll fucking kill you," as he erupted into the room, but Claire was silent, instead firing spells before she could even be seen. They weren't the ones that Sirius was holding back from because of his worry about the proximity of Juliette, but that would be her next step; she had better targeting ability than he did, and especially in this moment where he was running and about to lose control. He was probably shaking with fury too badly to accurately hit him with a spell just then. Instead, she had a protective spell and healing charm on Blaine before she was even seen, thanks to these favored spells working both silently and without any visible signs.
Sirius was using one to send Blackwell into the wall just as Claire was casting a harsher one than before. She had stopped just behind him then, standing to the side enough that she had a better angle as Sirius followed it up with a bunch of curses. While he was preoccupied with letting out his rage, Claire's aurors, expertly and rigorously trained by Claire herself, had fanned out, one moving to check on Blaine, another pinning Blackwell to the wall more securely, another working to release Juliette. Claire didn't even have to say anything out loud or make any movement; everything she did was wordless as she had Juliette released and one of her aurors promptly intercepted her and brought her out of the line of fire.
Claire was on the other side of the room in seconds, when Blackwell had managed to move and start fighting back. Sirius, unsurprisingly, seemed far too furious to be concerned, but she and the others were there too. Blackwell moved closer again, seeming to recover, and Claire felt her adrenaline spike; nerves about Sirius and her aurors and the two teenagers she was blocking, but also the cold thrill of the fight, terrible as it was. It was complicated by having to be more aware than ever of her partner's actions, keeping him safe and keeping him from doing something stupid as he was not in his right frame of mind. She had to resist the urge to stun him or something, send him far away from the room, but it wasn't worth the time or effort and she had to believe that he would remain at least somewhat rational. She hoped, at least, as she kept an eye on him and another eye on Blackwell while she was in her element - working, fighting, using her power and dangerous skills. She wasn't technically cleared for this, only a handful of weeks removed from her hospital stay, but she still felt completely ready and, awful as it was, very, very alive. Far more than she had felt while convalescing in her hospital bed or at home for those long days she was barred from work.
In the middle of the action, she was tamping down the emotions she felt about him. Her mother. Her goddaughters. Everything he had done. Although those emotions flooded into Sirius while Claire tried to ignore them, they were still there, and they drove her contempt and dangerous power then as she moved in tandem with Sirius, doing double duty as she kept him from getting hit by a curse and casting her own spells. Then there was a bang and a force that pushed Claire down to the ground, along with Sirius and another one of the aurors, as far as she could tell from the sounds of people hitting the floor. On her feet again in seconds, the room had been flooded with smoke, and as it cleared, Claire was on high alert, working as best as she could but trying to find where everyone was.

Juliette screamed again as pain shot through her. Her eyes were closed and she fell limp in Cato’s hands. She heard Sirius scream and looked and she looked towards him a little. It was hard to see as she was losing her vision but that could just be from the blood loss. She could see Blaine and Sirius other aurors standing around. She needed to hang on just a little bit longer now that her father was here. He would get this maniac away from her and Blaine. ------- Cato held Juliette by the hair holding his wand at her neck. A smirk was on his face. When he heard Sirius, his smirk grew. He thought he was going to kill him. This was going to fun. He could kill her in front of her father and her boyfriend. He wanted everyone to know who was in charge here. A spell was shot at him by Sirius and he was shooting back. His friend Claire shot some at him as well and Juliette was broken out of his hand. -------- Juliette fell from Cato’s grip and she fell hard on the ground. She groaned as she tried to move and sit up but she couldn’t. Her eyes were closed in pain. When she finally opened them, Cato was shooting a spell at her. ------- Sectumsempra he said pointing his wand at Juliette hoping that she will die slowly and this will cause Sirius more pain.
