Juliette didn’t really want to go to the Halloween Ball anymore, before she had been looking forward to it since Hogwarts had it every year. She loved dressing up and having a good time with her friends. Since her mother and grandmother didn’t have a lot of money her mother usually made whatever Juliette wore that night. She didn’t have her mother anymore though and she hated that. It had been two months since the attack. The bruises and cuts on her body had finally healed though the cuts were left as scares. That didn’t matter to her though because all she really wanted was her mother and grandmother back. Her friends tried to get her to talk to them but she hadn’t talked to anyone about that night, not even her father.
Yes Juliette had even found out who her father was. James Sirius Potter, the head Auror. Juliette hated him, hated him for leaving her mother after sleeping with her one night. For even having the one night stand in the first place when he was married to someone else. How could someone do that? He claimed he was drunk that night but he was still responsible for his actions in her mind. He shouldn’t have done whatever it was to make his wife upset, he should have fixed it before hand, and he shouldn’t have been getting drunk if he did care for his wife. If that was the kind of man her father was she didn’t want him to be in her life. Yet he made her stay with him, well it was that or the orphanage and she wasn’t going back there. Besides she still snuck back to her house and stayed there a lot. Her father was clueless of course.
So Juliette made her own dress this time. She did after all learn from the best, her mother. She kept away from her friends and made her dress at her home, the home she grew up in after all she did learn from the best. Her dressed had been finished before the day of the ball of course. She knew her friends were going to make her go. They would argue that she needed to have some fun and escape all of the drama that was her life. She knew her friends all too well and she knew they wouldn’t accept no for an answer, even Ethan Potter who had been her longtime friend and also happened to be her cousin would tell her to go. Time to just relax and get away from her father was a good idea to her. She didn’t know why he was trying to get to know her now. He had fifteen years for that before and she didn’t need him now. Everyone kept telling her though to give him a chance because he was her father. She just didn’t want to trust him and then get disappointed.
Juliette hated being disappointed. She hated opening up to someone and then having them crush everything she hoped for, which is why she didn’t do couple relationships. It was more of hook ups and such than anything. She knew her friends would never do that. She knew she could always count on them, which is why she knew they would make her come to this ball. They just wanted her happy and she knew that. They also thought, like everyone else, she should give her father a try. They kept telling her that it couldn’t hurt to try. She knew they were right and for so long she had wanted a father to be able to tell her who she could and could not date, and everything a father should do for their daughter. Now she had that chance. She should take it yes.
The day of the ball she spent most of the time before the ball getting ready. She was in the Gryffindor common room getting ready making sure everything was perfect with her friends and year mates. They joked about what may or may not happen that night and how much fun they were going to have. All of her friends had dates for the ball but Juliette preferred to go alone and see where the night took her. She always showed up alone but she always left with someone else. She finished getting ready and looked herself over in the mirror. All her friends had already finished getting read and left. They told Juliette that they better see her down in the Great Hall soon. She of course told them that they would. She put on a necklace that her mother had, that Juliette had salvaged after the attack. Her hand rested on the necklace, cold against her bare skin for a couple minutes.
She left the common room and started to head down the stairs. The ball was in the Great Hall and not only students were allowed to attend but also adults from the wizarding world. The descent down the staircase seemed to take forever. She wondered if her father would be here. She hoped not because she didn’t want him embarrassing her in front of her friends if she did pick up some guy. She would probably never hear the end of it then though she didn’t think he had the right to teach her or tell her how to run her love life. It seemed that he did a pretty lousy job at his hence how she came into the world. She wouldn’t worry about that now, she would wait until she absolutely had to worry about it. Right now she was going to focus on having a good time and not letting anything ruin or stop her from having a good time.
Juliette reached the ending of the staircase and stepped onto the floors of the Entrance Hall. There were already a lot of people out there waiting to go in when their dates arrived. Juliette not having a date walks in and looks around. A smile comes onto her lips as she looks around and sees how great the Great Hall looks. It’s always amazing when Hogwarts throws balls. She found her friends and started dancing with them just having a good time. She spotted her father a couple times with the girl he lived with. What was her name, Claire or something? He worked with her as well yes? It didn’t matter as long as he didn’t bother her and he didn’t ruin her night she didn’t care that he was here. As long as he respected her and her good time she would extend the same gesture; after some dancing Juliette went over to the refreshment table for something to drink. She made herself a glass then took a sip looking around.

Nights like tonight were something Blaine typically avoided. He hated crowds, feeling suffocated being surrounded by people. But tonight, he had come for one reason, and one reason only. He was stressed out, he had received letters from his so called father, angry ones at that. Threats Blaine did not care to think about, things he had put up with for so many years leading up until now. But now that he knew the truth about his "father" he wanted nothing to do with the man. He had not felt so down about life in a long time until the past few months. Being back at Hogwarts wasn't really helping. It's not like he had a lot of friends. On the contrary, he had none. He merely had a few girls that he knew, had slept with in the past, and partied with.
Tonight, his reason for being here came down to one thing alone and that was the want to get drunk. There was a student refreshment table and an adult refreshment table. Like anyone was really paying attention to who went to which ones. He was already three drinks in and the night was still very young. He watched the room of dancing couples, young and old alike. He took in everything, and everyone. Just like he had been taught -- no, trained, to do. That was when he noticed a familiar face, one of the girls he had spent some time with before now, walking up to the table and making herself a drink and looking around the room.
She looked beautiful in her dress, it was like no one else's here. If he remembered right, her mother who he had heard was now deceased, had taught her how to make clothes so he assumed she must have made the dress herself. She did a good job, she looked sexy to say the least. Blaine shook off those thoughts, or at least his way of phrasing them. He always tried to be a little more of a gentleman than that around the girls he liked. And Juliette was definitely one of the ones he liked. In a way, he was almost surprised to see her there. He had not seen her around the school much this year, he assumed she just did not have the desire to be around everyone.
Finishing his drink once again, he made his way across the room full of sickeningly lovey couples and back to the drink table and fixed himself another drink. There was one problem when Blaine drank and it was the reason he hardly ever did. Because he knows no end to it, when he picks up a drink you know he is set out to get completely drunk because he is an alcoholic and there is no in-between for him. He slipped his way between a couple dancing, rather rudely, but only because he was already starting to feel the buzz from the alcohol and his common sense was starting to drift away from him for the night, and from there he ended up about two steps in front of the ever beautiful Juliette with a handsome grin on his face.
"No date tonight, m'dear?" he asked curiously, as he sipped his drink. "You can't honestly tell me that no one asked you to escort them tonight! I wouldn't believe it even if you did." Most of the time, Blaine was quiet, secretive and kept to himself. When he was drunk however, he was rather talkative, slick and also pretty full of himself. He knew what he wanted and he went for it. And somehow, he had a feeling tonight, he was going to get lucky with the young woman standing before him.
